Expanding the Collection
HOT WHEELS |
This was a slow month for toy cars. Work, family and collector car events kept toy car shopping to a minimum. By default, the collector version of the Hot Wheels 1964 Buick Riviera gets 'car of the month'. I do like the blue color and detail but the wheels make this Bill Mitchell design look like a tuxedo with tennis shoes. A wheel swap would do wonders. The other two Hot Wheels would have not joined the collection if they had not come with the 2004 Collectors book. I wanted the book so I ended up with the cars. While a nice, clean, production '57 Oldsmobile would be very welcome, this cartoon car is a sad substitute. I'm not sure if the big nosed classic is supposed to represent an actual car. The nose says Duesenberg while the tail has Bugatti touches. Perhaps I'll appreciate them more in years to come. |
REAL TOY These
two Real Toy models may have started out from Soma. They came with a car
transporter and two more Real Toys cars, all for $5.99. The wheels and
nice paint provide a real improvement over the Soma versions. |
